In tribute

Each day when she administers care, Memory Zezekwam does so in tribute to her late mother Violet.
Memory was just a teenager when Violet contracted breast cancer and using the skills her mother had taught her, she helped to nurse for her through chemotherapy and her final years.
“I enjoy working for Caremark because caring is what I have always wanted to do and I think that comes from my Mum,” said Memory.
“When I’m providing care I like to listen to people, to hear their stories and that social side of the job is very important, especially for people who may not have any family visit them.”
After leaving college in Zimbabwe, Memory worked as a volunteer at her local hospital. There were very few places available for nurse training and so she became a teacher and for 15 years taught English.
She still had a yearning to work in care however and would often provide counselling in school or be on first aid duty for sports days.
When the opportunity arose to relocate to the Uk and work in home care support she took. Now, 18 months on, she enjoys her work and has achieved a Level III diploma in Health and Social Care.
Outside of work she enjoys reading with one of her favourite authors being Danielle Steel. She’s also looking forward to a holiday visiting relatives in Zimbabwe in September.
As for the future, Memory intends to stay in the care sector.
“It is my passion and possibly one day I might look again at a nursing place,” she said.
