Marlene and Megan scaled

Megan Lilliman still recalls the war stories her Polish-born Paratrooper great-grandfather would tell her when she was caring for him as a teenager – and it’s something which is still important to her now in her role as our Care Assessor.

She is responsible for meeting with our new customers, so she gets a full understanding of the support they require and drawing up a person-centred care plan which accurately meets their needs.

She then also visits the customer after the first week and third week of care to ensure the plan is working for them.

Part of this process involves finding out as much as possible about the people we support, including their life history, hobbies and any likes or dislikes.

“I loved hearing my great-grandfather’s stories and it was through supporting him that I started to think about a career in professional care,” says Megan.

Megan was a Deputy Manager for a homecare company in her native Yorkshire before she joined Caremark Mansfield & Ashfield in 2023.

“I have always been a very caring person and like making people happy, so caring has always been the ideal job for me,” she explains.

“Caring is my passion. I love what I do and wouldn’t change it for the world.”

Megan recently started fostering two young members of her wider family and she says the flexibility afforded to her at Caremark Mansfield & Ashfield has really helped this process.

“Simon and Jo, the owners, are parents so they know how important family is and they have been very understanding,” she says.

“It’s just one of the many reasons why it’s such a good company to work for and I couldn’t be happier here.”

Megan has less free time on her hands now she is bringing up too small children but enjoys spending time with her family and her pet hedgehog! She also likes horse riding and used to compete in events.
