Caremark’s Coffee Morning: Cakes and Chats for Macmillan Cancer Support

There’s something magical about the smell of freshly brewed coffee, and the sound of laughter. Especially with the sight of a table groaning under the weight of homemade cakes. And when it’s all in aid of a brilliant cause like Macmillan Cancer Support, that magic multiplies.
This September, Caremark proudly joined the nationwide movement to raise funds for Macmillan, supporting the nearly 3.5 million people in the UK living with cancer. From diagnosis to recovery and beyond, Macmillan is there – and we wanted to be part of that journey.
A Morning to Remember to Raise Money for Macmillan Cancer Support
On Thursday 18th September, the ever-effervescent Lydia Nduku, one of our senior carers, took the reins during our chair-based exercise class. Lydia transformed it into a celebration of community, compassion, and cake! We wanted to be part of the Macmillan Cancer Support coffee morning fundraising project.
Therefore, the Caremark office team rolled up their sleeves and got baking. The results? A mouth watering spread that would make Mary Berry proud. Fairy cakes with delicate icing and a sprinkle of joy, a nostalgic school traybake, decked out in colourful sprinkles and white chocolate cherry Bakewell Blondies. Gooey, indulgent, and utterly irresistible!
Familiar Faces and New Friends meet in support of Macmillan Cancer Support
By 11am, St Pip and St Jim’s church nave was buzzing. Jean made her way from Hatherley on her trusty motorized scooter, while Mandy arrived with Fay and Roger in tow. We also welcomed two lovely ladies who work as part of a team of social prescribers from the Cheltenham Peripheral Primary Care Network. Thanks to the fabulous events manager, Tim at the church, word had spread. We were thrilled to welcome some new faces into the fold.
The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, filled with chatter, laughter, and the clink of coffee cups. Old friends reunited, new connections were made, and every bite of cake helped raise funds for a cause close to all our hearts.

Why It Matters to Raise Funds for Macmillan Cancer Support
Subsequently, every pound raised helps Macmillan provide practical, emotional, and financial support to those facing cancer. And while our coffee morning may have been just one of thousands across the UK, it was a heartfelt reminder of what community can achieve when we come together.
Want to join us next time? Our next coffee morning events are being held on;
Thursday 16th October, Thursday 20th November and Thursday 11th December, starting at 11.00am to 1.00pm at St Pip and St Jims Church, Grafton Road, Cheltenham GL50 2DD – we’d love to see you there!
