The family of June Clark turned to Caremark Bromley after a bad experience with a private nursing agency and say it’s a great relief they did.

“Basically, they drained mum emotionally, physically and financially,” said daughter, Viv Pankhurst.

“We were then recommended Caremark and have been very pleasantly surprised in the 14 months they have been supporting mum.”

June, 85, suffers from progressive vascular dementia and Alzheimers, and now needs support for most tasks.

A care plan was drawn up between June’s family and Caremark which allows her to remain living safely in her own home. Viv and her brother Rob live nearby and visit daily with support from the Caremark Bromley team visiting three times a day.

“When I’m not there it’s a great relief to know there are trained carers there helping mum and keeping her safe,” said Viv. “They are so dedicated and even though mum can only say the odd word she has built up a great relationship with one carer in particular and they have their own way of communicating with each other.”

June, an accommodation officer for overseas students was married to husband David, a central heating manager, for over 60 years before his passing last year. They led full and active lives, with June visiting many countries around the world.

“When dad died it was very important to mum that she continued to live in their home and with the support of Caremark we want to maintain that as long as possible,” said Viv. “I love the way they talk to mum, there is humour and personality there, so patient and caring. They can tell if she is in distress and will let me know.”
