In-home Care and Support for just 45 minutes a day can make all the difference.
Caremark customer Greta Thomas has lived with her daughter Julie and son-in-law Chris for the last 15 years. Sadly, over the last few years, her health has deteriorated due to the onset of dementia and some mobility problems.
With daughter Julie in full-time work, retired Son-in-law Chris took on the day-to-day responsibility for Greta’s care. Over time, this has become increasingly more difficult for Chris as Greta’s condition has worsened, so at the end of 2019, Caremark were asked to provide the care and support they specialise in.
Now, each morning Care and Support Workers help to get Greta out of bed and get her washed, showered, dressed, and seated in her lounge ready for delicious breakfast made by Chris.
Chris says this 45-minute call has made a massive difference: “What takes the carers 45 minutes was taking me two hours and it was getting both Greta and I stressed and frustrated which was affecting our relationship”.
He went onto say: “Now the carers are doing this job in the morning, it has made such a difference as it gets done more quickly and just as importantly, Greta and I are getting on great again, so we couldn’t be happier with the service we are getting”.
Speaking of the Caremark Care and Support Workers: “Harriot and Cherie are Greta’s main carers and she worships them. They have become like family to us. They are always on time, always smiling, very professional and I cannot help smiling myself when I hear them giggling with Greta.
They both discuss any worries with me that they have regarding aches or pains Greta mentions when getting her up, they always let us know when any medication is running low, and all in all they have made both Greta’s life and mine so much easier.
“They are a godsend.”
