Nikhil

When someone takes the time to write a beautiful, handwritten two-page letter about the care you provided to their terminally ill husband in his final days, that means you did something incredibly special.

The note to Nikhil Nidhin Issac says it all and here’s a short excerpt from it:

“On the first day you came into our home all the family took you to their hearts. You came with such a big smile, professional and so caring, we knew we were in good hands.

“You treated my husband with such respect and dedication, and he held you in high regard.

“I know you will be seeing your parents soon and I would like to extend our heartfelt thanks from our family to yours in raising such a caring son. We are forever in your debt.”

Nikhil, who is from India, worked in a Royal Mail warehouse before he joined Caremark Wakefield two years ago.

He was the first male carer employed by our Managing Director Julie Oommen and she admits to having some initial reservations about him, although now she says if she could clone Nikhil she would!

He has never taken a day off sick and as well as receiving letters from grateful customers, one even has a framed picture of Nikhil in the home – that’s the sort of impact he has on people.

His job in the warehouse paid more than being a Carer but he says that does not matter to him because he cannot put a price on the rewards he gets looking after people in their own home.

“I like my job, and I like looking after people,” says father-of-two Nikhil.

“It’s nice receiving comments from my customers, it makes me happy to know they are happy.

“I couldn’t have done this job though without the support of the Caremark Wakefield MD Julie and Manager Tom; they have both been fantastic!”
