I underwent open-heart surgery on May 30th 2019. I am 76 years old and live alone, knew I would need help afterwards, even for simple tasks, and engaged Caremark in advance, initially for 2 hours/ 7 days, later 1 hour/5 days; 10 weeks in total.
I felt very secure with this organisation, e.g. my hospital discharge date kept changing but the supervisor and the first carer were on my doorstep the day I returned home. The supervisor had earlier taken note of my circumstances; new carers were introduced and briefed by an earlier carer; they arrived punctually or phoned to say if there was a snag. I found them delightful people, intelligent and well-mannered, prepared to do anything to help me and to do it quickly and to high standards: washing, cleaning and ironing, shopping, accompanying me on my regulation walks, keeping me company, changing light bulbs, cleaning silver. They had clearly been professionally trained in basic security matters. I shall miss them.Celia27/08/2019

We were very anxious in making the right decision for our mother as she is starting to struggle with the early stages of dementia. The help/support we received from the Caremark Cambridge team has been outstanding. They have been so friendly/caring with our mother, she now looks so forward to seeing them every day.

On November 2nd 2018 I was asked, by my uncle John to find a care provider for him, John is 91 years old and a bachelor he has lived on his own since his mother died in October 1991, he has stated that would like to remain at home as he has lived there since he was 9 years old.
I contacted Laura Ansell at Caremark and we arranged to meet at Johns that afternoon at 16:00. At the meeting was Laura, John, myself and my cousin Alan. We discussed a way forward, Laura asked some in-depth questions to assess John’s requirements.
It was agreed that a single one hour visit at about lunchtime would cover all of John’s needs, someone to check in on him, have a cup of tea and to assist with lunch, prepare a sandwich for evening meal as well as push the vacuum cleaner around.
Unfortunately John’s health deteriorated at the end of November, Laura recommended that John added an evening visit and moved the lunchtime visit to a morning visit.
Again midway through December John had to increase his visits by adding a lunchtime visit again.
On 2nd January John had another fall and it was agreed by the family that we needed to get a live in career, Laura said and did sort the situation we had a full time career in by the evening of the 4th.
Throughout the whole of this journey we have been helped, advised and supported by Laura and her team, Laura has kept John’s request to stay at home and safety at the forefront of any decisions on future care, going through changes with both John and ourselves, fully explaining what will change and why.
Personally I cannot praise Laura highly enough, the rapid changes in John’s condition has been a challenge for us all, but Laura has taken this in her stride and matched John’s increasing needs with little or no delay, Laura has advised us when to call for professional bodies such as Occupational Therapy and advised us of John’s requirements. Laura has always presented herself professionally throughout the process completing and updating risk assessments throughout.
Having been disappointed with the care provider my late mother had, I am amazed of the care my uncle is receiving from Caremark, from the basic systems in place to ensure a visit has taken place to the quality of visits, it is obvious that the staff are trained to a very high standard and have the ability to get on with the tasks required without prompting this has given me a confidence I never had in Mums care provider.Ron Raven07/01/2019

My mother (92 years old) was very resistant to having any kind of support in her own home, and was initially quite rude and aggressive. The care and professionalism of the staff from Caremark overcame her barriers, and within a few visits they were not only helping her, but were also able to sit having tea with her, whilst she regaled them with stories of her past.
