Mid Sussex Field Care Manager
I have been employed by Caremark for 7 years, I was a carer for 4 years part time, completed my NVQ level 3 in 2016 and then became a Supervisor for the Haywards Heath area.
I think you need to be compassionate, caring and very organised, you need to be able to build good relationships with people and have excellent communication skills.
The most important thing about my role is being available to the carer's and customers so they know who they can contact if there's an issue or query to be resolved, and that I am available to support them as much as I can.
The best part of my job is knowing that I help people to get really good care in their own homes and getting to know lots of different people and listening to their stories and experiences.
I love that my work is different every day and even it it's been a challenging day there is always support and someone to make you laugh. I just adore the customers as we get to know them so well.
If I had to explain my job role to a friend I would tell them, I care and support older and vulnerable people to help them remain independent as possible, but I also get to support a team of carer's and help ensure that they are doing an amazing job.
Our customers are absolutely the best thing about 'at home' care, knowing that you have made a difference to someones day and that you can work with a team of people who really care about their customers.
The most important quality to have when looking after our customers is to care, you can be trained to do the job but it's really important that you care.
