Andrew had the vision to create a Community Care service that delivered the highest standards of care possible, in order to improve the quality of life for individuals who choose to live an ordinary life at home and in their community, enjoying everyday activities.

Andrew along with Mark opened the Caremark service in Barnsley in 2011, with the intention to become the best provider of home care in the region. Having developed this service to be one of the lead providers in the area, Andrew & Mark moved on from the Barnsley service in June 2017 to concentrate further on their Rotherham & Sheffield service which was opened in 2016.

Over time Andrew recognised a requirement to support people with complex health conditions, to enable them to live an ordinary life in their own community and home.

Caremark's Complex Care Needs service is now well established and supports many people with a diverse range of disabilities and complex health conditions. Supporting people at home, in the community, on short breaks and holidays, in educational & work settings and to enjoy social activities and interests.

We are delighted to have established our service further supporting children and young adults across Rotherham & Sheffield with our knowledgeable complex care team. We remain committed to further develop our service, providing choice and control for the people we support.

In 2011, Mark and business partner, Andrew opened their first Caremark franchise in Barnsley, designed to support people in their homes across the Borough of Barnsley.

Working in close partnership with clients and their families, friends, carers, commissioners, local organisations and hospital teams, the service provides safe and effective support to adults, young people and children in their own homes and communities.

Mark has a personal belief that individuals where possible would rather stay within their own homes, retaining their independence, confidence and relationships, where possible rather than the alternative of residential care.

The service quickly became established and was soon awarded with a framework contract working with Barnsley Council. As the service grew it became clear there was also a demand to support individuals with complex conditions and diagnosis in their home assisting them to lead full, ordinary and active lives, enabling them to achieve their outcomes and desires.

Mark and Andrew took the decision to split the complex client base from the domiciliary service as they recognised the two services were very different and required a different skill-set, training and competencies from staff providing the support together with designated and focussed management teams.

Following a strategic service review in 2016, Mark and Andrew purchased two additional Caremark territories, in Sheffield and Rotherham, in order to focus on their growing and successful complex care service- supporting children and young people in their own homes with multiple conditions and diagnosis to lead full and active lives.

Their complex service has a proven track record of supporting a wide range of short and long term complex care conditions and a reputation for delivering excellence across all aspects of case management. The organisations ethos is ‘if we can find a way to provide safe and effective support, then we will do so’. The service has an experience in developing, mobilising and implementing large-scale, managed service care provision.

Mark and Andrew successfully sold their domiciliary Barnsley service in 2019, whilst not an easy decision for either individual, they recognised they wanted to spend more of their time with their team developing their growing complex organisations.
