Customers determine staff awards
People who receive care in their own homes have been instrumental in deciding which staff should win Caremark (Redcar and Cleveland)'s annual care awards.
The senior management team at Caremark (Redcar and Cleveland) used testimonials provided by customers as part of the process to decide who should receive an award.
And at a recent ceremony, Care Worker of the Year awards were presented for the three main areas where Caremark provides care.
The Care Worker of the Year award for Redcar went to Caroline Dodshon.
One of the people who nominated her, Julie Rawlinson, said: “There is simply no-one like Caroline, she is like my sister. Nothing is ever a problem for her and she is an absolute asset to Caremark.
“She has changed my life immensely; she helps me when I am down and always seems to cheer me up.”
The Care Worker of the Year award for Guisborough, Middlesbrough and North Yorkshire went to Sandra Wanless.
One of the people who nominated her, John Storey, said: “Where do I start with Sandra as there are too many things to list. She has changed my life for the better and much more.”
The Care Worker of the Year award for Saltburn, Marske and East Cleveland went to Claire Campbell.
One of the people who nominated her, who asked not to be named, said: “Claire helps to motivate me and is a very caring lady. She helps to calm me when I feel anxious and is thorough in her work and very good at her job.”
Runners-up and outstanding care worker awards were also presented to dozens of other staff who had received compliments from customers.
Caremark (Redcar and Cleveland) Care Manager Michelle Jackson said: “We have so many amazing care workers, in an ideal world we would have liked to recognise each and every one of them for the work they do supporting people in their own homes.“
We recently became one of only 2% of care providers in the UK to achieve an outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission who regulate health & social care in England, and when you receive as many compliments about carers as we did this year, it goes a long way to demonstrating why.”
