Caremark (Redcar and Cleveland) chosen for social care fund pilot
Caremark (Redcar and Cleveland) has been appointed to start managing social care budgets on behalf of people living in Whitby.
Caremark is one of only six companies chosen by North Yorkshire County Council to implement a number of Individual Service Fund (ISF) pilot services across the county.
The organisation has been selected to provide the service in Whitby and the surrounding area, and in the first tranche it will help manage manage funds on behalf of 20 local people.
It forms part of the Government's drive towards Personalisation, which is about allowing people who require care and support to choose the services that best meets their needs.
Under the 12-month pilot, Caremark will effectively manage money on behalf of individuals and help them to buy a variety of services, such as equipment, community-based activities, home care and respite care.
Charles Folkes, Managing Director of Caremark (Redcar and Cleveland) said: "We are delighted to be one of only a few private providers chosen to pilot the ISF services in North Yorkshire.
"We only recently expanded our home care services into Whitby but the people we will be managing funds for may not be in need of our services; our role is to simply help them achieve their preferred outcomes without the requirement to manage large amounts of money directly or to employ staff.
"The ISFs can help ensure that people get a service that is truly individual and right for them. This is a new project for us but one we are very excited to be part of."
