For the last few years, we have supported the Santa’s Seniors appeal.
This is an appeal set up by Suzanne Gunson and her daughters Amy and Lizzie to bring some Christmas cheer to those who may be on their own, or lonely, over the festive period.
Despite Covid-19 throwing a potential spanner in the works, Suzanne, Amy, and Lizzie once again asked for donations of gifts for Christmas 2020 and they were inundated with support from the community.
They were able to put together an absolutely amazing 1,500-plus gift packs to distribute across the area and we once again did our bit by delivering to our own customers.
Among those who received a gift pack was 89-year-old Joyce Clark, who said: “It was such a lovely thought, and I am now looking forward to opening my gifts on Christmas Day.”
Caremark (Kirklees) Managing Director Duncan Smith said: “This is the fifth year we have been involved in Santa’s Seniors and it has never been more important to us.
“Our carers have been continuing to provide home care support throughout the pandemic, so we were able to deliver the presents to people in their homes in a safe way with staff wearing face masks and gloves to protect our customers.
“We are proud to be associated with such an amazing initiative and hope our customers and everyone else who receives gifts across Huddersfield this year has a lovely, but safe Christmas.”
