With the announcement today that Herefordshire is going from Tier 2 restrictions to Tier 1 and the Forest of Dean is remaining at Tier 2, it is really good news for the region and testament to the efforts of the Local Authorities, NHS and CCGs etc and of course the fine citizens of both regions who have largely observed the restrictions!

PEG training for all Management and Care and Support Workers

All our Management and Carers are PEG trained!

We are proud to announce that all our team will be PEG ( Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy) trained very shortly.

We recently approached the NHS who have kindly run training sessions at our Rotherwas, Hereford office to ensure all our Management and Care and Support Workers are up to date on PEG feeding.

Sally Price, our Field Care Supervisor, who has many years of training and experience and is a qualified PEG trainer will continue the ongoing training and monitoring with updates and training where needed from the NHS.

Sally Soutar, Registered Care Manager, is thrilled that we are able to support clients with complex needs in their own homes. Sally said “ The team was really engaged during the training and the lady from the NHS was great. We hope to be able to support more clients at home with PEG feeding.”

Note that Sally has also been trained in Tracheotomy care and being a qualified trainer will be training the Care and Support Workers as needed.

Herefordshire Council - Life under Lockdown

Life under lockdown archive
Together with the Hereford Times, Herefordshire Council is documenting 'life under lockdown'. Whether it's when you Clap for Carers, make supplies for the NHS, or enjoy more family time, or go about daily life that have become more difficult - like going shopping, going to work, or seeing family and friends, we will document this momentous time in our history for generations to come - good and bad, and all that it brings.
They will create a collection from the pictures which will be kept for posterity on herefordshirehistory.org.uk and in years to come, can look back on these to see how life changed.

To submit photos to this Herefordshire History archive please use our online form or tag the photo with #lifeunderlockdownHT on social media.

Pre-booked drive-through testing is available at Merton Meadow car park Hereford

Book tests at gov.uk or call 119. Caremark do not provide tests.

If you're an essential worker who is self-isolating, you can now apply for you and your household to get tested in Herefordshire for Covid-19 coronavirus.

The drive-through testing is available at Merton Meadow car park in Hereford and tests can be booked on the government website. The test is only for people who have symptoms of coronavirus – whether that’s you, or someone you live with. It involves taking a swab sample from your nose and throat. The test will tell whether you currently have coronavirus. After the test, while you wait for your results, you (and anyone you live with) must continue to self-isolate. Read NHS advice about how long to self-isolate.

If your test result turns out to be negative, you can safely return to work, as long as:

you are well enough
you have not had a high temperature for 48 hours
anyone you live with also tests negative
