Caremark (Southend and Rochford) hosts tea party for their clients who self-isolated during the pandemic.

The care at home provider laid on an afternoon tea party for their clients who have been self-isolating since the beginning of the pandemic and have been unable to access the community or their normal clubs and activities.

Some of their Care and Support Workers had noticed that many of their clients that they had been caring for had not accessed the community for several months due to the pandemic and wanted to arrange something to lift spirits and facilitate a community event.

After much consideration and feedback from clients an afternoon tea party was held on Wednesday 30th June 2021 for 14 clients which was an afternoon full of music, entertainment, bingo and afternoon tea for all.

The event was hugely successful, with many local shops and services donating items for the raffle such as gardening vouchers, vouchers for cafes and restaurants, hanging baskets, clothing, ornaments, hampers and much more.

One staff member stated: “we were blown away with the donations from the local community, but it is lovely that everyone has supported our event’.

Many clients and their families have comments on how well it was planned and the huge impact it had on them. One such client said: “I have not been out for over a year and it is lovely to see other people again and to be outside of my home”.

Another client commented: “I lost my wife during the pandemic, I cannot be sad as I know how lucky I am, but today has been lovely and I have met some lovey people, I hope we can do this again soon”.

The Managing Director of Caremark (Southend & Rochford) Deepak Menon said: “It was so lovely to see all our service users most of them who were stepping out for the first time after shielding for over a year. The smiles on their face were priceless.

I am also ever so thankful to my wonderful staff who have always worked very hard especially during the pandemic and cared for all the service users in the best possible way.

It was overwhelming to see the kind of support we received from the local business community to support the event by generously donating gifts, snacks and other items aking this event enjoyable and entertaining.”

Due to the positive response they received from clients, families and staff, they intend to organise similar gatherings in the future to promote social interactions for those who are otherwise confined within their homes.
